The online application process for teacher scholarships starts February 9, 2010.
- Applications are due March 5, 2010.
- Winners will be announced the week of March 22-26, 2010.

Once the application process is open, all applicants will recieve a confirmation email when his/her application is recieved. Please allow two (2) business days for this confirmation email.

Program description
Through a competitive process, the Griffin Spalding Education Foundation awards scholarships for up to $1,000 per recipient to school system employees who are currently seeking additional certification or advanced degrees relating to their teaching/educational field.
Scholarships are good for one year and may be used for tuition, books or lab fees for classes offered through colleges or universities.

1. Currently enrolled in an advanced degree program relating to individual’s teaching/educational field or a program for additional certification
|
2. At least one year of service as a certificated employee in the Griffin-Spalding County School System. GTAPP participants are eligible for the program.

4. Two (2) completed professional or academic reference forms. One must be completed by individual’s principal/supervising administrator. Do not use family members.

Recipients must
- Agree, upon completion of certification or degree, to serve as a teacher or administrator in the Griffin-Spalding County School System for at least one year if offered a position.
- Remain in good academic standing throughout the term of the scholarship by maintaining passing grades and a 3.0 GPA or higher.
Recipients must complete his/her spring 2010 academic term and submit his/her grade report to the Griffin Spalding Education Foundation for reimbursement for up to $1,000. A receipt of payment or a loan statement must be submitted with the grade report to prove tuition has been paid.
If a scholarship recipient does not use all of the $1,000 for spring term reimbursement, he/she may submit a summer 2010 or a fall 2010 grade report to receive the scholarship's remaining balance. Again, a receipt of payment or a loan statement must be submitted with the grade report to prove tuition has been paid.
